Day 5 — me and my pug Doug relaxing on the couch after a smoke detector emergency morning
Doug & I. He’s 10, terrified of smoke detectors, and nearly derailed my whole day.

Yesterday could have fallen off the rails fast. My pug Doug is 10 — he’s a coward, and he hates when our smoke detector goes off or the power goes out. He shakes uncontrollably when it happens. Out of nowhere our smoke detector started going off at 6:30am.

Typically this is an all-day type of disaster. I was already planning on going to the gym in the morning, but that idea flew out the window. We decided to take him on the ride to work, something we’d never tried before. Started driving and he was immediately soothed. It was a miracle.

What Does This Have to Do With Abs?

Anyway — what does this have to do with weight loss and getting abs? Well, I have a habit of if something goes differently than planned, I just pack it all in for the whole day. And I’m not going to lie, I did a little bit — I didn’t end up going to the gym. But I did do my pushups and sit-ups, and I stuck to my diet.

Moving forward at even the slowest pace is always better than standing still or moving backwards. It’s just a fact.

On to tomorrow!

🔥 Don’t Let a Bad Morning Kill a Good Day

When your routine gets disrupted, it’s tempting to write the whole day off. But a partial win still counts. Skipped the gym? Do bodyweight exercises at home. Can’t meal prep? Just stick to your diet. Stacking small wins through chaos is what separates a bad day from a wasted one.
